Mahoning County commissioners want accountability from the MCBDD

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A Mahoning County commissioner feels confidentiality is one thing, but accountability for taxpayer dollars is another.

Thursday's commissioners meeting was held at the Mahoning County Board of Development Disabilities and commissioners say they want to know more about the suspension, investigation and resignation of the board's superintendent Larry Duck.

After five months on paid administrative leave, Duck resigned and as given an additional six months pay.

"We're just trying to get to the bottom of it ourselves. I do believe in transparency, I've always believed in that. Of any other boards we've been involved with, they've been transparent and I believe this board will have to do the same as our board appointees," said Commissioner Carol Rimedio-Righetti.

The agency says the situation with Duck is a personnel matter and therefore confidential. The commissioners say they will seek an opinion from the county prosecutor's office.
