OVI trial date set for former boxer Kelly Pavlik

Posted: Updated:

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Kelly Pavlik is scheduled to go on trial in May on a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence.

On Monday, Judge David D'Apoloto set a trial date of May 14 for the former boxer in Mahoning County Court in Austintown.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol tells 21 News they pulled Pavlik over on the Ohio Turnpike in Jackson Township in December after receiving a call that a car fitting a description of Pavlik's vehicle was being driven by a possibly impaired driver.

Troopers say Pavlik refused to submit to a field sobriety test or blood alcohol test.

In 2011, Pavlik was cited for DUI, but that charge was dismissed and he pleaded guilty to failing to control his vehicle and failing to report an accident.
