Trucker survives destructive crash on Route 82 in Brookfield

Posted: Updated:

BROOKFIELD, Ohio - A trucker remained hospitalized after he survived a spectacular crash on State Route 82 in Brookfield.

61-year old Ronald Cramer of Cortland was pinned in the wreckage of his truck after it plunged down on embankment and rolled over in a ditch.  The first police officer on the scene said he was surprised to find the driver alert and talking.

"I went up to the cab and I noticed the driver was pinned in there but he was talking at the time, and within moments later the fire personnel arrived on scene and began the extraction on him" said Brookfield Patrolman Ron Mann.

After working for more than 45 minutes to free Cramer, rescue crews said he showed no visible signs of injuries.

The accident closed the westbound lanes of Route 82 in Brookfield for more than five hours.
