Youngstown City Schools planning new programs and activities

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown City Schools are inviting parents and the community to learn more about new programs and activities the district plans to offer.

The superintendent says they already offer hands-on learning choices for high school students and they plan to offer similar opportunities to students in younger grade levels as well.

"For years and years, we've been telling kids what to take in school, we don't want to do that in anymore we're going to tell them they have to take the basics, the rest is up to you," said Dr. Connie Hathorn, superintendent of Youngtown City Schools.

Tuesday was the first of three meetings district officials will host.
