Ohio teacher to 911: Boy, 14, says he shot his dad

Posted: Updated:

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (AP) - Records indicate a 14-year-old Ohio boy charged with killing his father asked a teacher for help afterward and admitted to the shooting.

The teacher called 911 Sunday, and authorities found the teen's father dead at home in Franklin Furnace, about 95 miles south of Columbus along the Ohio River.

In the recorded call obtained by The Associated Press, a distressed man says a student who lives several miles away came to his home crying and asked for help, saying he'd shot his father. The Columbus Dispatch first reported details of the call.

The boy was taken to a juvenile detention center and has been charged as a juvenile.

Sheriff's Capt. David Hall told the Portsmouth Daily Times that the teen said there was verbal abuse and he was fed up.
