Lewis out as Sebring school superintendent

Posted: Updated:

SEBRING, Ohio - Christopher Lewis is out as the superintendent of the Sebring school system.

During  a special meeting Monday morning, the board of education voted to place Lewis on paid leave for the remainder of the school year, and  then buy out the remaining year of his contract for $111,000.

School board president, Ray Harris tells 21 News it was a mutual decision due the to differences between Lewis and members of the board.

The school board suspended Lewis in March for alleged inappropriate conduct, but reinstated him several days later.

A statement issued from the board at the time said that the board president conducted a thorough investigation into the allegations, and found they were not verifiable, they were vague, extremely dated and failed to provide specific information.

The board also notified The Ohio Department of Education, of the allegations.

Lewis' personnel file shows he has never received any disciplinary action since he was hired in 2012.

The board appointed elementary school teacher Toni Viscount as interim superintendent until a replacement can be selected.

The board will advertise for a new superintendent at the end of the school year.
