Armed robbery lead Salem police to two arrests

Posted: Updated:

SALEM, Ohio - A robbery in Salem led police to the arrest of two suspects on Monday.

Police were summoned to the 300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at around 9:30 a.m. to a reported robbery in progress.

Officers say that because the victims are of Guatemalan descent, they needed a translator to determine that the man and woman had been robbed at knife point.

The victims told police that they saw the alleged thief go into a nearby home where officers say they found 23-year-old Matthew Juillerat in the basement.

Investigators then searched Juillerat's apartment on North Lincoln Avenue where they discovered heroin, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, cash  and a handgun.

Police also arrested Randolph Moore Jr. of Youngstown at the apartment, charging him with possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence.

The female victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the robbery.
