Youngstown man shot by two intruders at east side home

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A Youngstown man tells police he was shot trying to escape from two would-be robbers who walked into a home on the east side.

56-year-old Beverly Smith tells investigators that two men dressed in black walked through an unlocked door of her living room at 1002 Arch Street on Wednesday afternoon and demanded money.

51-year-old Larry Reynolds, who was in the house with Smith, began to run from the men.  Reynolds was  shot in the leg before he could jump out of a window and told police he also believed he was shot in the chest.

Officers found Reynolds lying on the ground outside a neighboring home.

Smith, who told police she fell to the floor when the intruders entered the home, says she's not sure where the suspects went. She doesn't believe anything was taken from the home.

Reynolds was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.  At last report his condition was listed as stable.
