Proposed Lordstown natural gas plant could connect the supply and demand chain

LORDSTOWN, Ohio - Industry experts believe that a natural gas plant proposed in Lordstown would join the local shale booms chain of supply and demand.

Clean Energy Future out of Boston is eyeing a potential location for a new plant off of Salt Springs Road.

Ohio Oil and Gas spokesperson Mike Chadney says a lot of the natural gas that's being produced right now is waiting for consumption.

"Specifically for the Ohio shale play, what it does is gives an end-user to all the folks that are drilling and producing shale gas all up and down eastern Ohio. So it just continues to encourage them to drill and produce, because they've got a place to sell it now," Chadney said.

The potential $800-million investment would create almost 30 permanent jobs and about $100 million in additional tax revenue.
