Trumbull County Children Services holds recognition luncheon

Posted: Updated:

WARREN, Ohio - A large crowd turned out for Trumbull County Children Services Rising Up and Moving On recognition luncheon.

The annual event honors Children Services families and children who have prevailed over great adversity.

This years' Service to Children award was presented to Lauren Wimer, a Howland High School senior who coordinated a giving campaign to provide personal items and comfort toys to children who enter foster care.

"They never get to take their favorite teddy bear or they usually don't have anything with them, so I wanted to give back to Children Services and I wanted the children to have something they can keep and they can hold onto at night," Wimer said.

Lauren donated 50 backpacks filled with personal care and comfort items for children. She also achieved the Gold Award, the highest award presented by the Girl Scouts.
