Liberty Township residents push for passage of roads levy

Updated:

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio - While a lot of people may complain about pot holes in their community, one group of residents in Liberty Township is doing something about it.

The Citizens for Good Roads Committee is working together to spread the slogan "Pennies a day, keep the pot holes away." The group says due to cuts in state funding, the township can not afford to repair the roads without the help of a passed levy.

"This committee has done their due diligence they've looked at the finances, and the end of the game is if we don't pass a road levy no roads are going to get fixed," said Resident and Organizer Karen Conklin. "They are going to continue to patch them, they are going to continue to deteriorate."

The proposed levy would cost the owner of a $100-thousand home about $43.75 per year, for five years.

If the levy passes, the township is eligible to apply for matching funds through Trumbull County.
