AUSTINTOWN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -  Austintown police are trying to find out more about an assault in the township that occurred Wednesday night.

Police were called to a home on North Main Street near Maple Avenue just before 11:00 p.m., where they found a man outside, lying unconscious and bleeding on the ground.

Police say the victim had been visiting a woman at a home at 293 North Main, when three men came over.

Investigators say a physical argument broke out, and the victim was injured.

Authorities have not released the victim's name, but say he is hospitalized in stable but critical condition.

Police cordoned off the intersection with police tape as they conducted their investigation.

Investigators are trying to determine what sparked the confrontation, and are trying to identify the other people involved.
