SOUTHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol has cited a Trumbull County Sheriff's deputy in connection with a crash that occurred during a police pursuit.

Troopers tell 21 News that 64-year-old Sheriff's Major Harold Firster has been cited with failure to yield while making a left turn.

Firster received minor injuries on April 4 when his pickup truck was struck by a tractor trailer on US Route 422.

The patrol says that the semi ran into Firster's truck after it made a left turn into the crossover at Anderson Anthony Road in an effort to cut off a vehicle that authorities were pursuing from the city of Warren.

The report says Firster's truck pulled partially into the westbound lane just as the tractor trailer had moved into the left lane.

The driver of the semi wasn't hurt. Major Firster refused treatment at the scene.

Firster is scheduled to appear in Warren Municipal Court on May 7 to answer the charge.
