WARREN, Ohio -
Ohio State Highway Patrol District Captain Jim Holt is retiring on Friday after serving the force for over 37 years.

Holt said that during his time with OSP, his role has evolved from patrolling the roads, writing traffic citations and speeding tickets to conducting investigations at every level, though his most memorable day is still his first. Recalling his first day on patrol Holt said, "We handled a fatal crash involving a nun that went through a stop sign, and the following day I had to go to the hospital and give that Catholic nun a citation for vehicular homicide.  And I remember being Catholic myself that nun looking at me and saying 'God bless you and God bless your career."

During his career, Holt has received the award of valor for saving an elderly couple from a burning car, and he has received 135 letters of commendation for his actions
