Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

Soup and creative ideas were being served at the Calvin Center Sunday evening.

It was the first Youngstown SOUP event, patterned from of a similar event that has taken place in Detroit.

For five dollars, attendees were not only served soup and salad, they also had the opportunity to vote on the best community project idea presented by five different groups.

The winning group received the proceeds from admission.

Sophia Bugg with Youngstown SOUP tells 21 news that the topics of the projects include education, social justice, entrepreneurial ideas, and in the future they will also likely include agriculture.

About 200 people attended the event, bringing in at least a thousand dollars.

The next SOUP will be held July 27.
