Donors provide $40,000 matching gift for Rescue Mission

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley is asking residents to donate in the month of May to the Mission.

Several anonymous donors have offered to go dollar for dollar up to $40,000 for any money given to the Mission this month. The money will help with the day to day operations and allow them to feed and shelter the close to 150 men, women and children who stay at the shelter daily.

"This generous challenge gift is an encouragement to others to participate during the months when giving tends to be softer. We are so thankful for each and every gift and what better time to give then when it is matched dollar for dollar," said Marisa Volpini, President of the Mission's Board of Directors.

Letters have been sent out to the community to explain the matching gift opportunity and encourage donations.
