Fitch teacher suspended for alleged relationship with student

AUSTINTOWN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - An Austintown school teacher has been suspended for an alleged improper relationship with a female senior high school student.

Superintendent Vince Colaluca confirmed to 21 News that Social Studies teacher John Dietz is suspended from his duties as school officials investigate the allegations.

Colaluca says that the police has been notified, but currently the investigation is being handled internally.

According to the Code of Professional Conduct from the Ohio Department of  Education,  educators shall maintain a professional relationship with all students at all times, both in and out of the classroom.

Soliciting, encouraging, engaging or consummating an inappropriate relationship with a student or minor is considered conduct unbecoming of a teacher.

Punishment for violations of the code range from suspension to revocation of a teaching license.
