Maruca edges out Sammarone for Mahoning County probate judge seat

Posted: Updated:

Both candidates for the Democratic primary race for the Mahoning County Probate Judge seat have experience in probate court.

Susan Maruca came out on top Tuesday night by 222 votes over Christopher Sammarone. The final vote was 11,701 to 11,479.

Maruca was endorsed by the Mahoning County Demoratic Party, while Sammarone received an endorsement from the Bar Association.

The candidates are looking to replace Mark Belinky, who resigned in March.

The winner will face Robert Rusu and Mary Ann Fabrizi for the seat in November.
