Deadly truck crash investigated in Mercer County

Posted: Updated:
SUGAR GROVE TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Authorities are investigating a deadly truck accident near Greenville.

A tri-axle truck lost control around a curve and rolled over into a ditch on the 1000 block of Methodist Road in Sugar Grove Township just after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.

First responders found the driver, Howard P. Cristen, 57, of Hadley had been ejected and pinned under the truck.

Authorities said Cristen had a load of large rocks on the truck and it appeared he failed to negotiate a curve at the bottom of a steep hill on Methodist Road.

Hempfield Township and Pennsylvania State Police investigated the accident.

Methodist Road is still closed as crews are cleaning up the scene and making some repairs to the road.
