2 mayors honored by the Youngstown-Warren Black Caucus

WARREN, Ohio -

Two Trumbull County mayors were honored by the Youngstown-Warren Black Caucus on Saturday night.

Warren Mayor Doug Franklin and McDonald Village Mayor Glenn Holmes were honored for their service at the event held at DiVieste's Banquet Center in Warren.

Mayor Franklin says the day of the event is poignant because it's also the anniversary of a landmark civil rights case.

“This is the anniversary of the Brown versus Board of Education decision. I think both me and Mayor Holmes are benefactors of that battle and that victory,” Franklin said.

“The Youngstown-Warren Black Caucus has been very instrumental in encouraging a lot of folks in the black community and I appreciate the work that they have done,” Homes said

State Representative Alicia Reece was the keynote speaker. Reece is the president of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus.
