LIBERTY TWP, Ohio - Three individuals broke into a home on Hadley Ave in Liberty Twp on Sunday and held the eight residents, including a four year old child,  hostage for over three hours.

Sandra M. Pavelko-Smith, 47, of Youngstown, Kenneth E. Macek, 68, of Boardman and Ralph W. Smith, 35, kicked in the door of the home and held the residents at gun point threatening to kill everyone. Reports say the intruders took everyone's cell phones to prevent them from calling police.

Liberty police responded to the scene and were assisted by Youngstown, Girard and Warren police as well as Mahoning County Sheriffs, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Mahoning Valley Crisis Response team. Pavelko-Smith and Macek surrendered to officers shortly after 3:30 p.m. and police say Smith fled the scene when the responding officers arrived and is still at large.

Pavelko-Smith and Macek were arrested and charged with felony counts of assault, burglary, and kidnapping in addition to counts of simple assault and inciting panic. Pavelko-Smith was bitten by a pit bull at the residence and transported to a local hospital, where hospital staff found her to be in possession of heroin and crack cocaine during a cavity search. She was also charged with drug possession.

The victims were transported to the Liberty Police Department for interviews. Upon arrival it was found that two of the victims, Dale M. Thompson, Sr. and Dale M. Thompson, Jr. had outstanding warrant  and were arrested.

Police say the incident stemmed from a dispute between the two sides involved where Pavelko-Smith claim the victims stole a car from her.
