Rescued ducklings reunited in Boardman

Posted: Updated:
BOARDMAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Boardman firefighters once again come to the rescue of a family of ducks.

Nicolinni's Restaurant owner, Stephanie Lavanty tells 21 News that members of the fire department rescued nine ducklings that had fallen into the sewer in the parking lot on Boardman Poland Road Tuesday morning.

Lavanty says that the ducks were safely contained in a cardboard box, but their mother was wandering around the outside of the restaurant looking for her babies.

Lavanty was concerned that if she releases the ducks near the mother duck, they'll either end up in the sewer again, or could wander into traffic.

Lavanty showed the box of ducklings to their mother, and lured her back to a pond near the Hampton Inn where she released the family so they could be reunited.

Earlier this month, Boardman firefighters were rescued ducklings from a sewer on Boardman- Canfield Road near West Boulevard.
