Michigan man reaches settlement after winning Ohio Lottery

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ohio - COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A Michigan man who won $2 million on a scratch-off lottery ticket at a Toledo truck stop in 2010 finally got a payoff from the state of Ohio.

Records show the Ohio Court of Claims approved Mahmoud Dabaja's $710,000 settlement with the Ohio Lottery Commission on Thursday.

The problem arose when his ex-wife, his brother and a third person made claims to the Lucky Millionaire scratch-off ticket that he says he bought in June 2010 at a Pilot Travel Center in Toledo.

Dabaja sued the lottery commission and the three claimants in the Court of Claims alleging breach of contract. He also asked the court to declare that he was entitled to all the proceeds of the winning ticket.
