GROVE CITY, Pa. - State police in Mercer County have arrested a man suspected of grabbing a nine year old boy at the Wal-Mart on West Main Street in Grove City.

Bond is set at $100,000 for Shawn Michael Miller, 27, of Grove City, who was taken into custody and charged with unlawful restraint and simple assault at around 8 a.m. Friday.

A shopper tells police that on Thursday afternoon, he and his 6-year-old son had just exited the bathroom in the store, as his 9-year-old son was still washing his hands.

That's when a man went into the bathroom, came up behind the 9-year-old and grabbed him around the waist.

The boy tells police that Miller pulled him into the bathroom stall and shut the door. Miller allegedly let the boy go when he began screaming for his father.

The boy ran from the bathroom and located his father nearby. Police say that Miller left the bathroom, exited through the front of the store and fled into a wooded area behind the building.

Police say that Miller surrendered without incident.

"He admitted that he was at the Wal-mart last (Thursday) night. Maybe the stories might vary a little bit, but we went and picked him up at his house in Grove City and he was interviewed and he's been cooperative throughout, said Lt. Thomas Dubovi, Crime Section Commander for Pennsylvania State police.

Members of the community say they are learning an important lesson from this child's story.

"It's scary being that close to home, and being a grandmother of a little one, you keep a little tighter hold on them," said Grove City resident Cindy Cross.

Pennsylvania State Police say the store's surveillance video and tips from the public were critical in making the arrest. Miller has been ordered to not have any contact with the victim in this case or with any child.

A search of  Pennsylvania court records show that Miller has no criminal history.

His preliminary  hearing is set for June 18 at 10:00 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge D. Neil McEwen.
