Labor group for travel safety stops in Youngstown

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - An organized labor group pushing Congress to re-invest in a long-term highway bill stopped by downtown Youngstown Friday.

The Fix Our Bridges Tour uses an example of a crushed school bus to demonstrate the need to keep America's roads and bridges safe for travel.

"With nearly a quarter of America's bridges structurally deficient or functionally obsolete, this is a serious problem, and highway bill funding actually runs out at the end of the summer if Congress doesn't do anything," said Lisa Martin with the Laborers' International Union.

The tour is supported by the Laborers Union Of North America and is making stops in more than 22 cities and Congressional districts.
