Sharon School District cuts budget in half; taxes will still go up

Posted: Updated:

Residents of Sharon will see their taxes go up, as the school district needs them to help fund the 2014-15 budget.

School officials chopped their $3 million deficit in half, without any layoffs or cuts in educational programs.

The approved final budget includes the $1.5 million in cuts.

Property taxes are expected to go up 2.25 mills. The average homeowner will see an increase around $30 to make up the remaining deficit.
