Tuesday evening appeared to be pretty routine for Raymond Cordova. He was relaxing on the porch of his home at the Valley Mobile Home Park on Youngstown Hubbard Road, enjoying a cold beer after a long day at work.
That's when he caught something out of the corner of his eye. He saw that two men had pulled up in a car behind his trailer. One of them lifted Cordova's push lawnmower and placed it into the trunk of their car.
According to Lynn Cordova, her husband leaped from the porch and managed to punch one of the men in the face. She says that one of the men inside the car had a chainsaw on his lap. As the two drove away toward Youngstown, Cordova threw his beer bottle, striking the car.
Cordova only was able to give Hubbard Township Police a portion of the license plate number of the car.
Cordova's wife told 21 News that although the mower wasn't brand new, she can't believe that someone would be so bold as to commit a theft at someone's home in broad daylight.
She says she has lived at the same location since 1998 and never had any problems with crime. She says she used to make fun of her husband when he used chains to secure items outside the home. Now they have to buy a new mower.
She says she won't make fun of her husband anymore.
