In Ohio river search for 2, missing man found dead

Posted: Updated:
ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a call for help about two people in an eastern Ohio river led to a search that turned up the body of different man who'd been missing for more than a week.

The Zanesville Times Recorder reports authorities received a call Tuesday about two people in the Muskingum River, which was swollen and movingly swiftly after heavy rains. A witness working nearby says a young man bobbing in the middle of the river called for help and eventually disappeared downstream.

Authorities found boat debris and believe the two people reported in the water may have been boaters. The search for them continued Wednesday.

The Muskingum County sheriff says a body found in the water Tuesday was identified as a 67-year-old Blue Rock man who'd been reported missing.
