Funeral arrangements for Trumbull Commissioner Paul Heltzel

NILES, Ohio -

Arrangements have been finalized for Trumbull County Commissioner Paul E. Hetzel, who passed away Monday following  an illness.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, 126 W Park Ave, Niles.

The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Church 129 W Park Ave, Niles.

Heltzel is survived by his wife Rosemary and four children, Ryan, Michael, Robert and Paul.

Heltzel was 69.

    Young children seen wandering in a Youngstown neighborhood led police to discover the body of their mother. Police on the scene say a neighbor called 9-1-1 after spotting barely-clothed children running outside their East Avondale home Thursday afternoon. When police got there they saw a woman slumped over inside the home. The coroner's office is still investigating, but officers say it appears that the 36-year-old woman appears to have died of an overdose.

    A man who was found guilty of vicious attacks on two women was back in Mahoning county court Thursday to face sentencing.   In February, a jury found Michael Johnson of Youngstown guilty of attempted murder for a severe attack on a woman in her home. Prosecutors say the victim was beaten, burned, stabbed and left to die.

    A former police chief in Columbiana county is being accused of theft in office. When Leetonia's mayor took office last year he thought there were some discrepancies in the village's accounts and asked for an audit. What that audit allegedly found was money missing from the police department's Care and Share Program and from its fund raising account.
