AUSTINTOWN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -

Bond is set at $8,000 for a man arrested after a standoff with Austintown Police last week.   31-year-old John Andrei Jr. appeared in Mahoning County Court Monday on charges of felonious assault, domestic violence, and inducing panic.

Andrei was arrested on the morning of  July 4, nearly four hours after police surrounded a home on Kirk Road where he had allegedly beaten his four year old step son on Tuesday.

Police say Andrei was inside the home, armed with a machete.

He surrendered at approximately 3:00 a.m. following negotiations with police.

The next court hearing in the case is scheduled for July 21.
