Attempted robbery in East Liverpool caught on camera

Posted: Updated:
EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -

Police hope that surveillance images will help them catch a potential thief.

Investigators have released surveillance pictures that were taken during an attempted robbery at Gilkinson's Short Stop market on Avondale Street on June 28.

Proprietor David Gilkinson tells police that a tall man wearing all black clothing and a ski mask entered the store just after 11:00 p.m. and pointed a gun at him.

When Gilkinson shoved the intruder away, the would-be-thief fled out the door and ran away on North Street.

The suspect did not get any money, and no one was injured.

Two surveillance pictures were released. One shows the suspect pointing a gun at the owner of the store. The other shows the masked man jumping over a railing as he ran away.

Witnesses reported seeing a suspicious gold four door vehicle on Riverview shortly after the incident.

East Liverpool Police are asking anyone with information that could lead to an arrest in the case to call them at 330-385-1234.
