Posted: Updated:

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Catholic educators will focus on the partnerships between grade schools and universities in a day of discussions and presentations in southwest Ohio.

The University of Dayton is hosting its third annual Catholic education summit Monday, with some 140 people expected to take part on campus. The school says 16 archdioceses and dioceses will be represented, from as far south as Nashville, Tennessee, and as far north as Hamilton, Ontario. Loyola of Chicago and Manhattan College are among universities and other higher education organizations participating.

Susan Ferguson, director of UD's Center for Catholic Education, says teachers, pastors, school officials and others are coming from a variety of school settings. Topics include essential Catholic curriculum, academic excellence, Catholic culture and identity and operational vitality.
