WARREN, Ohio -

The Trumbull County Coroner has officially ruled accidental drowning as the cause death of a father and son whose bodies were recovered from Rankins Lake in Newton Township.

Forty-eight-year-old Anthony Harris, Sr. and his 21-year-old son Anthony Harris, Jr., drowned during a fishing trip.

The men went out on the lake in a canoe on Saturday morning. Deputies searched the shoreline later that day after finding their vehicle at the lake, and no sign of the men. During a thirteen hour search of the lake on Sunday, authorities found the body of Harris Sr. The body of his son was recovered on Monday.

The younger Harris is a former football player for Youngstown Christian School. His father was employed by RG Steel.

Authorities say they were not wearing life vests.
