Green Youngstown project honored

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

Part of Youngstown's Public Works Department is being awarded the 'Keep Ohio Beautiful 2014 Community Award'.

On Friday, July 11th, Green Youngstown was presented with an honorary award for their work toward cleaning up the Valley.

Green Youngstown, a project to increase awareness and participation in community improvement efforts, was chosen as the best overall environmental program with features such as education, cleanup, recycling, beautification, and public greening.

"We are honored to be chosen for the 2014 Keep Ohio Beautiful Community Award. While Green Youngstown has developed and implemented numerous new litter control and recycling programs we would never have achieved such a success without the cooperation and involvement of community partners and volunteers" said Program Coordinator, Jennifer Jones.

The Green Youngstown Project focuses on educating the community about local recycling programs and community clean up efforts.
