No indictments in Ohio inmate's 2007 death

Posted: Updated:

FREMONT, Ohio (AP) - A grand jury in northern Ohio has found no probable cause to issue indictments in the 2007 death of an Ohio inmate.

A Sandusky County grand jury issued its findings Tuesday in the death of 37-year-old Craig Burdine of Oak Harbor. Fremont officers arrested Burdine after a report of a fight on Aug. 11, 2007.

Court documents say Burdine resisted and fought with deputies at the Sandusky County jail before they shocked him with a stun gun. He died shortly after.

A coroner found that the death was accidental and caused largely by his drug intoxication.

Sandusky County's prosecutor had requested a special prosecutor to review allegations from the Burdine family of criminal wrongdoing against public officials.

The Ohio Attorney General's Office agreed to serve as special prosecutors in 2013.
