Woman dies in Warren house fire

Posted: Updated:
WARREN, Ohio -

Warren fire officials say a woman found inside a burning home on Wednesday has died.

Crews were called after neighbors saw smoke coming from a home on Columbia Place SE just before noon.

Firefighters found Loan Vang in the basement of the home, where fire spread to a table from a burning pile of clothing.

The victim, said to be in her 80's, was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A neighbor tells 21 News that he tried to rescue the woman, but was unable to get inside the home.  Fire investigators say the woman suffered from poor eyesight.

Authorities believe that she may have been trying to put out the fire by herself.  Neighbors could hear smoke detectors going off inside the home.

Fire damage was confined to the basement.

The State Fire Marshal has been called in to find a cause of the fire.
