Second Harvest and Disabled American Veterans help feed the Valley

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

The Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley and Disabled American Veterans teamed up to provide a mobile food pantry for veterans and low income families in need.

The mobile food distribution pantry was held at the Austintown Senior Center on Westchester Drive. $5,000 was raised to help fund the growing need in the area.

"It means a lot because some of these vets have such a struggle that getting good food is a problem. This way, if they have a family it's a bigger problem. By giving them good healthy food for them and their family it's as good as we can do." said disabled Vietnam veteran Carl Nunziato.

The food bank expected as many as 300 people or families to benefit from the mobile food pantry.
