Historical society launches new "Memories With" program

Posted: Updated:
LIBERTY TWP, Ohio -

Retired Ohio senator, YSU trustee, and Youngstown native Harry Meshel was the inaugural speaker at a new series put on by the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society.

It's called "Memories With: and on Saturday morning Meshel shared his recollections of growing up on Youngstown's eastside, The Depression, his years in the United States Merchant Marine, and a lifetime in Mahoning Valley and Ohio politics.

“We're talking about social, cultural history, industrial, ethnic history. It's all history and in our new program we're doing it in a user friendly way,” said Richard Scarsella, William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society.

The free event was held in the meeting room at Kravitz's Deli in Liberty Township. The historical society will be holding "Memories With" events four times a year at different locations.
