Boardman businesses re-open after power outage

A power outage forced two stores in Boardman to temporarily close Monday afternoon.

The electricity went out to the Giant Eagle and Pet Smart on Doral Drive at about 1:30 p.m.

A spokesman for Giant Eagle blamed the outage on transformer problems.

A spokesperson for Petsmart and they their went out for about one hour and 20 minutes. Power was restored about 2:47 p.m. Once the computers were back online, they were back in business.

First Energy did not returned calls from 21 News.

    A second Community Opioid Summit was held at the Covelli Center in downtown Youngstown on Wednesday.
