CNG fueling station opens off of I-80

Vehicles running on compressed natural gas now have a new place to pull over and fill up in the Mahoning Valley.

IGS CNG Services celebrated the grand opening of its sixth public fueling station on Tuesday.

Vehicles running on compressed natural gas now have a new place to fill up right off of Interstate 80. The Weathersfield station sits off of the Salt Springs Road exit.

Though natural gas exploration has slowed in Trumbull County in recent months, the company's president believes natural gas consumption will grow in the coming years.

"It's a chicken and the egg, we just decided to go for it and build the infrastructure and the economics makes sense when you use a lot of fuel, so we know those are the first ones that are going to convert," said Scott White, president and CEO of IGS CNG Services.

This is the third station owned by the company in Ohio and White said more stations are on the way.

IGS plans to build a regional network of stations to service vehicles traveling throughout the state.
