First Energy still trying to restore power in Trumbull and Mercer counties
First Energy has pushed back the estimated time that crews will be able to restore power lost in Trumbull and Mercer Counties during storm activity on Sunday.
The utility estimates that the 30 homes and businesses in Trumbull County and 15 in Mercer County will be restored by 1:00 p.m. today.
Fallen trees, downed and low hanging power, cable and phone lines were reported in Trumbull County in Ohio, as well as northern Mercer and southern Crawford Counties last evening.
Some flooding was reported in Trumbull County. 21 News viewer Debbie Parsons sent a picture of a portion of Kinsman Pymatuning Road washed away, and a creek overflowing it's banks onto the roadway at the intersection of State Routes 5 and 7 in Kinsman.
Due to the storms, the Kinsman Fire Department announced that the following roads are closed until further notice:
- Kinsman Pymatuning Rd between State Route 7 & Delin Thomas Road.
- Ridge Road between Webber Cole and Webb West.
The fire department advises against people driving through any standing water, as it can be extremely dangerous.
Shortly before midnight, first responders in the Venango County community of Polk called for manpower from Mercer County fire departments to help evacuate the area along the Sandy Creek. Boats were brought in to help rescue residents of a mobile home park. The evacuees were taken to a nearby church. Roads around the borough opened after midnight when the water receded.
