Sunday weather linked to deadly crash in Trumbull County

MECCA TOWNSHIP, Ohio -

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Warren Post is investigating a one vehicle crash resulting in one fatality, and one injury. At approximately 5:10 PM, Sunday, troopers responded to a traffic crash on State Route 88 west of Morrell Ray Rd. in Mecca Township.

Troopers say that a  2003 Dodge Dakota driven by Kenneth A. Hudnell, 43 years old, of Bristolville, was traveling west on the road and lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway.  According to reports, the vehicle drove off the left side of the road, striking a sign and utility pole. The vehicle then overturned ejecting the driver from the vehicle. Hudnell was pronounced deceased at the scene at the hospital. Mr. Hudnell was not wearing his seatbelt and the time of the crash.

The passenger in the vehicle, Georgann Barrickman, age 51, of Kinsman, Ohio sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Seat belts were in use by the passenger.
