South Range art students win plow painting competition

NORTH LIMA, Ohio -

For the 2nd year in a row, South Range art students have taken 1st place in the Paint -A- Plow contest that is part of the District 4 Roadeo.

This year, there were 16 participants from all six counties. Students had to come up with a design that incorporated something school related and also road safety.

The students at South Range chose to design their plow with characters from the popular film, “Frozen.” South Range students, Cole Durina and Cole Berry, helped lay out the design of the plow and did a large portion of the painting.

The winning plow will be on display with the Ohio Department of Transportation exhibit at the Canfield Fair.

Created in 1988, the Roadeo is held every spring in ODOT’s 12 districts as a means to recognize and test the employees who operate some of the state’s heaviest equipment.

Through a series of tests and a driving course of clearances, serpentines and stops, the Roadeo is a challenging competition that measures the skill level of participating highway technicians and mechanics.
