Warren City Schools forecast a stable financial future

Posted: Updated:
WARREN, Ohio - The Warren City School District is forecasting a stable financial situation for at least the next few years.

The district's treasurer said the renewal of an emergency levy and a change in state funding for economically disadvantaged districts is the reason for the improvement.

The last time voters were asked to approve a levy for new money was back in 1994.

"We're always look at it to see, we're trying to stretch it out as much as we can, there have been no talks now, but we just know that down the road that unless we have a windfall, that we're probably going to need to ask for new money in the future," said Angela Lewis, Treasurer for the Warren City Schools.

The overall general budget is expected to stay in the black through at least 2017.

Lewis expects the 2014-2015 general budget to total about $62 Million.
