Columbiana County intersection getting a makeover

COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio -

A busy Columbiana County intersection is getting a huge makeover.

State, county and local officials unveiled their plans on Friday to overhaul the intersection of Routes 7 and 14 in Columbiana.

Developers, who are planning to build restaurants and shops near the intersection, say new turn lanes for all directions are needed.

“By the time we finish our development, there will be massive traffic jams here. On Fridays cars wait through many lights and it's very difficult to get through this intersection, so it will alleviate the traffic jams we get,” said Tom Mackall of Firestone Homestead, LLC.

Construction on the new retail space is expected to begin next year. The $1.8 million intersection construction project is set to begin in the spring of 2018.
