Second Harvest Food Bank ships water to Toledo

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

As Toledo residents recover from a contaminated water supply, local food banks are stepping into help.

Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley is sending over a thousand gallons of drinking water to the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank.

“Today the water is back on, however it could resurrect the problem down the road, so we wanted to be cautious and help them with this load of water going out today. We are going to assist them so they can have it on hand if they need it,” said Mike Iberis, Executive Director of Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley,

Toledo was unable to use water for several days due to a toxic algae bloom in Lake Erie.
