Former Youngstown firefighters union treasurer charged with theft

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The former treasurer of the Youngstown Professional Firefighters Association has been charged with stealing thousands of dollars while in office.

Destry Rush, a former Youngstown Fire Department captain, faces a felony four theft charge, meaning he allegedly stole anywhere between $7,500 and $150,000 from the organization.

Rush was treasurer until he resigned amid the allegations in April of 2014.

David Cook, President of Firefighters Local 312, went to police when he noticed that the union treasury report did not match-up with account balances at the bank.
