Blaney wins second career victory at Bristol

Posted: Updated:

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The old saying the apple doesn't fall to far from tree applies to the Blaney family.

Lou Blaney was a dirt track legend. Dave Blaney is one of the best sprint car drivers and his son, Ryan, is making the most of his limited opportunities in the Nationwide Series.

On the final restart last Friday night, veteran Kyle Busch spun his back tires and Blaney took full advantage to get out front and he stayed there the final six laps to record his second Nationwide win in only 24 career races. It's also his first short track win.

“I was kind of indecisive. Didn't know if he was going to go early, because he's gone late every single restart. If he was going to do the same thing; he ended up going really late. We got to the second mark and he didn't go, I went. He said after the race the seven jacked him up. We were able to get away and make a few good laps in front of him. It's awesome to be here in Bristol in victory lane. I've been coming here 10 years with my dad. It's been one of my favorite race tracks to watch a race. There's so much history here. It's awesome to finally be in victory lane,” Blaney said.
