Warren reviewing challenges to merger of 911 services

Posted: Updated:
WARREN, Ohio -

The city of Warren is reviewing any potential challenges to a merger between the city police and county's dispatch centers.

The talks are not sitting well with the dispatcher's union.

Dispatchers say they're concerned about call volume and the safety of residents.

The city's safety director insists that any decision made will hinge on maintaining the level of safety. "If it doesn't work from a safety standpoint, from a reliability of service, not just for the citizens but for the law enforcement professionals out in the field, then it doesn't work," said Enzo Cantalamessa, Warren Safety Director.

The city is not ready to disclose how much money it could save by joining the Trumbull County 911 Center.
