Fitch Class of '76 pays it forward

Posted: Updated:

Austintown Fitch alumni gathered at Lakeside Golf Course to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The Fitch Class of 1976 and Friends Annual Golf Outing began as a fundraiser four years ago to benefit a classmate with cancer.

The group now contributes each year to different families in the community or alumni.

“It started with guys just having fun and doing it and then we decided there is a real need for people in the community. We all have roots in Austintown, so we decided that there was a need to give money back and pay it forward and help out friends in need,” said Cheryl Danko, Fitch and Friends.

This year's proceeds will help send three Austintown children afflicted by neuromuscular disease to Camp Cheerful in Strongsville, Ohio.
